Rise Of The Villain : In a World Ruled By Anomalies

Chapter 141 - 140 : Enterance examination (1)

Chapter 141 - 140 : Enterance examination (1)

The entrance exam had barely begun, but the slaughter started the very moment all the candidates opened their eyes inside the magical space—a warped world where a dense forest and a modern city had been stitched together.

Towering trees rose from broken asphalt and cobblestone streets. Thick roots coiled around lamp posts and traffic lights, while stone and metal buildings jutted up between the trunks like foreign intruders. Vines wrapped around balconies, and moss crawled over glass windows, turning the whole place into a surreal battlefield.

Almost immediately, the candidates began to move.

Most of them chose the safest option—numbers.

Small groups formed all over the forest‑city. Students shouted names and rushed to join familiar faces, or simply grabbed anyone who looked strong enough not to die in the first five minutes. Teams of five, ten, even fifteen spread out through the streets and trees, hunting loners and weaker groups.

Their strategy worked.

They ambushed isolated opponents, overwhelmed them with coordinated attacks, and shared the points gained from each kill evenly among their members. In just two hours, some groups had already piled up impressive scores, their confidence growing with every successful hunt.

Only a few stayed alone.

Noble candidates whose arrogance wouldn’t allow them to stand beside anyone they considered inferior—and lone wolves who had the strength to back up their pride—refused every offer to join a group. They moved independently through the forest and city, leaving a trail of bodies and glowing motes of light behind them.

Two hours passed.

In the observation hall above the magical space, a large holographic window hovered in the air, displaying the current rankings in bright letters:

{

1. Arthur Celestian – 180 points

2. Victor Blackthorn – 123 points

3. Elizabeth Crimson – 120 points

4. Arina Evan Imperius – 109 points

5. Jasmine Cael Ashford – 104 points

6. Evangeline Cael Ashford – 98 points

7. Damian Stormborn – 90 points

8. Aiden Nexaris – 87 points

9. Isabella Crown – 85 points

10. Julia Vale Valmont – 76 points

11. Liana Clington – 70 points

12. ...

}

The numbers shifted slightly every few seconds as new kills were made.

Inside the magical space, in the front yard of a two‑story building whose walls were half‑covered in ivy, three figures stood side by side.

Surrounding them in a wide circle was a group of about twenty candidates.

The twenty had numbers and formation, but all their weapons and threatening stances couldn’t hide the tension in their eyes. Sweat rolled down the side of more than one face.

The three in the center, however, looked completely calm.

The first girl had long golden hair and sharp ember eyes that seemed to burn on their own. She stood casually with her sword resting on her shoulder.

It was Arina Evan Imperius.

The second girl had brown hair tied in a neat ponytail and steady brown eyes that missed nothing.

Diana Stormborn.

The third had smooth purple hair that flowed down her back and matching purple eyes that reflected a calm, dangerous light.

Liana Clington.

Even though Arina, Diana, and Liana were clearly surrounded, the group of twenty looked more afraid of them than they were of the twenty.

Suddenly, one of the candidates from the outer circle stepped forward.

She was a girl with black hair and black eyes, wearing clean square glasses that gave her a serious look. Sweat matted her bangs to her forehead, and her breathing was slightly uneven. A dagger trembled faintly in her hand as she approached.

She stopped a few steps away from Arina and forced herself to speak.

"P‑Please," the girl said, eyes flicking nervously between the three. "Leave our group alone. If you let us go, we will help you in the future—any support you need—after we all successfully pass the entrance exam."

Her voice carried desperation but also a tiny bit of stubborn pride, as if she was trying to negotiate instead of beg.

Arina and Liana exchanged a look.

Then both of them burst into laughter.

"It’s not going to work that way," Arina said, amusement vanishing from her face as quickly as it appeared. "Only those who have the courage and deserve to stand at the top should enter the academy."

Her aura flared.

Crimson‑gold mana surged around her like a wave of hot wind, pushing dust and loose leaves across the yard. The twenty candidates instinctively took a step back, eyes widening.

"Pests like you have no place here," Arina finished coldly.

The girl with glasses bit her lip, her shoulders trembling.

Around her, the twenty candidates gritted their teeth. Their auras flared in response, different colors and textures of mana rising into the air—blue, green, red, and dull grey. Fear did not disappear, but it was buried under anger and pride.

Weapons came out in earnest.

Swords, spears, and axes were raised; daggers were flipped into reverse grips. Two mages lifted their staves, runes glowing faintly near the tips. A boy wearing metal gauntlets clenched his fists, lightning crackling along the knuckles.

But even with all that, the pressure coming from Arina alone pushed them back.

She casually swung her sword once.

The mana from that single motion blasted outward like a gust of hot wind. The first line of candidates slid back a full step despite digging their heels into the ground, some nearly losing their balance.

Arina’s expression darkened.

"Seeing you reminds me of another pest I have to take care of soon..." she muttered, Arthur’s face flashing through her mind.

Just as those words left her mouth—

All twenty candidates lunged at once, a wave of bodies and mana crashing toward the trio.

Liana glanced sideways at Arina, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"Need any help?" she asked.

Arina lazily waved her hand without taking her eyes off the incoming attackers.

"Yeah," she said. "Just don’t interfere. That’ll be a big help."

Liana and Diana sighed in unison.

"I knew she would say that," Diana muttered.

They both stepped back, giving Arina space.

In the very next second, every one of the twenty candidates felt it—like slamming face‑first into an invisible wall.

Their charge stopped dead.

The next moment, they were sent flying backward as if a giant hand had swatted them away. Bodies spun helplessly through the air like rag dolls, crashing into trees and slamming into the walls of nearby buildings. Stone cracked, bark splintered, and a few unlucky ones broke through windows before vanishing into motes of light.

Diana took a huge gulp of air as she watched.

"Wow... the Imperius bloodline ability she awakened is really something else," she said.

Liana’s eyes narrowed, analyzing the exchange.

"I know, right," Liana replied. "It’s called Distance Rejection."

She continued, voice turning slightly more serious as she explained.

"Distance Rejection is a bloodline ability that converts the kinetic energy of an approaching target into a short, powerful repelling force," Liana said. "When an opponent enters within one meter of Arina, the ability activates automatically. The faster or harder they move toward her, the stronger the recoil becomes, pushing them back and ruining their momentum."

She gestured toward the groaning candidates scattered around the yard.

"It can fully stop attacks and throw weaker opponents away—just like now. On stronger opponents, it can at least weaken their charges, ruin their balance, and create small openings in close combat."

Diana’s eyes sparkled with admiration.

"Wow, I wish I had something like that," she said.

"This is nothing," Liana replied. "Did you already forget about her talent?"

Diana blinked, then clapped her hands together lightly.

"Right... the S‑rank talent," she said. "Telekinesis."

As soon as the word left her mouth, the atmosphere changed.

The earth around them seemed to rumble without sound. Pebbles, broken weapons, and fallen leaves began to lift from the ground. Bits of metal, discarded armor pieces, shards of building stone, even chunks of tree trunk—all of it rose slowly into the air, as if gravity itself had forgotten its job.

Arina stood at the center of the storm, golden hair waving in the mana pressure. Her ember eyes glowed with a dangerous light as she raised her hand.

Under her terrifying level of control, the floating debris twisted and reshaped.

Metal rods elongated into sleek spears. Chunks of stone compressed into dense spikes. Splintered wood twisted into drill‑shaped projectiles. Within seconds, hundreds of deadly shapes were floating around Arina, all pointed outward toward the twenty candidates who were just starting to recover their footing.

One boy swallowed hard, cold sweat pouring down his back.

’This is bad...’ he thought.

Arina’s fingers closed into a fist.

"Disappear," she said softly.

Every spear, spike, and drill shot forward at once.

The sky turned into a storm of flying weapons.

The twenty candidates barely had time to raise their arms, let alone defend properly. The projectiles struck them from every direction, impaling bodies, shattering hastily raised barriers, and piercing through hastily cast shields. One by one, they were skewered, lifted off their feet, and then exploded into bright motes of light as the magical system registered their eliminations.

Within a heartbeat, the yard was empty of enemies.

Only a few embedded spears and cracked trees remained as proof they had ever been there.

Diana ran up to Arina, eyes shining.

"That was so awesome!" she said, practically bouncing.

Arina only smiled faintly at her, then lifted her gaze.

Above them, a floating screen was still hovering in the air, its numbers shifting as the kills were counted.

{

1. Arthur Celestian – 180 points

2. Arina Evan Imperius – 129 points

3. Victor Blackthorn – 127 points

4. Elizabeth Crimson – 122 points

5. Jasmine Cael Ashford – 104 points

6. Evangeline Cael Ashford – 98 points

7. Damian Stormborn – 90 points

8. Aiden Nexaris – 87 points

9. Isabella Crown – 85 points

10. Julia Vale Valmont – 76 points

11. Liana Clington – 70 points

12. ...

}

Liana looked up at the board and smirked.

"Looks like you finally got the second spot," she said.

But Arina’s ember eyes remained flat and cold.

"It doesn’t change anything for me unless it’s the first place," she replied.

Her gaze slid to the very top of the ranking.

1. Arthur Celestian – 180 points.

Arina bit her lip, anger flickering in her eyes.

"That worthless scumbag," she said in a low voice. "Abandoning the Imperius name and thinking he’s worth something now... I’ll show him his place. His name will never be above mine."

As if the world itself had heard her—and wanted to mock her—something astonishing happened.

The rankings shifted right in front of her eyes.

The board rearranged itself.

{

1. Arina Evan Imperius – 129 points

2. Victor Blackthorn – 127 points

3. Elizabeth Crimson – 122 points

4. Jasmine Cael Ashford – 104 points

5. Evangeline Cael Ashford – 98 points

6. Damian Stormborn – 90 points

7. Aiden Nexaris – 87 points

8. Isabella Crown – 85 points

9. Julia Vale Valmont – 76 points

10. Liana Clington – 70 points

11. Arthur Celestian – 65 points

}

Arina’s eyes widened.

"What the hell..." she whispered.

Diana and Liana were equally stunned for a second—but then slow, delighted smiles spread across their faces.

"Serves that scumbag right," Liana said. "Looks like someone beat him up and stole all his points."

Both girls burst out laughing.

Arina did not laugh.

Her rage only grew darker and heavier.

"You guys will have to move alone for now," she said quietly.

Liana blinked. "But why?"

Arina turned away, her aura already starting to rise again.

"I have someone to kill," she said.

Without waiting for a reply, she immediately walked off, mana flaring around her like a menacing flame.

Diana and Liana remained standing there, confused.

Arina walked through the forest‑city with fast, determined steps, her anger boiling just beneath her skin.

’If anyone’s going to take all your points by beating you into the ground, it will be me,’ she thought. ’You worthless bastard.’

A menacing aura kept pouring out of her body, so intense that she ignored the candidates she sensed nearby. They, in turn, felt that pressure and chose not to approach the golden‑haired girl storming past them.

Meanwhile—

Inside the VIP hall of the academy, where the most important guests watched the exam, a different kind of chaos was unfolding.

Athena’s mouth twitched as she looked at the newly updated rankings.

"I never thought I’d see someone use the transfer‑points rule like that," she muttered.

On another seat, Adrian Evan Imperius was visibly shaking with anger, his face turning beet red as he stared at one particular screen—Arthur’s.

Sylvia sat beside him, face pale. She wanted nothing more than to hide herself in shame, unable to watch what Arthur was doing in the exam without covering her eyes.

Around them, several noble figures could not hold back their laughter.

They pointed—in a restrained, dignified way—at the black‑haired boy who had been at the top spot just a few minutes ago and was now sitting at rank eleven with a pitiful number of points.

Their amused chuckles echoed through the VIP hall, mixing with the crackling screens that continued to stream every second of the chaos unfolding inside the magical space.
