Chapter 207 -: 206 Crypian’s engagement.

Chapter 207 -: 206 Crypian’s engagement.

Meanwhile, in the western territory of the Holy Empire, inside Duke Scarlet’s territory, the atmosphere was still lively even after the grand engagement banquet had ended.

Yesterday had been the official engagement ceremony between Ciel Scarlet and Crypian Thorne.

Many guests still remained inside the estate, enjoying the hospitality of the Scarlet family, yet the two people at the center of the celebration were already preparing to leave.

Outside the massive estate gates, several luxurious carriages stood lined up neatly while knights and servants moved around making final preparations for the journey ahead.

The evening wind blew softly across the hills surrounding the territory. Standing near the front carriage, Duke Scarlet looked toward his daughter quietly.

"Are you certain you want to go with Crypian already?" he asked in a softer voice.

The duke looked slightly helpless. The engagement had only ended yesterday, yet today they were already departing toward the capital of the Holy Empire because of matters related to the succession struggle surrounding the First Prince.

Ciel stood beside Crypian gracefully with both hands folded before her, "Yes, father," she answered gently.

"As the future wife of Lord Crypian, it is only natural that I accompany him." Her voice was sweet and elegant enough to make almost anyone lower their guard around her.

Only...the smile on her face was completely fake. In reality, she could not care less about Crypian’s affairs.

The only reason she was following him was because Uriel had once told her clearly that if she truly wanted him to accept her in the future, then she had to listen properly whenever he asked something of her.

And right now, this was one of those requests. Crypian, completely unaware of what truly went through her mind, looked toward Duke Scarlet and smiled warmly.

"Do not worry, Duke," he said politely while bowing slightly, "I will make sure she remains safe."

Duke Scarlet slowly chuckled before waving his hand. "Then I will not stop the two of you any longer, enjoy your trip to the capital."

Ciel immediately showed a bright cheerful smile before lightly waving back.

"See you soon, father." Then she turned around and entered the sleek white carriage waiting behind them.

Crypian followed shortly after. The moment both of them entered, the coachman pulled the reins gently and the carriage slowly began moving forward.

The large estate gradually disappeared behind them as the road ahead descended through the green hills of the western territory.

Inside the carriage, Crypian finally let out a long breath and relaxed against his seat.

"Haah..." Everything was proceeding exactly according to his plans.

Outside the windows, endless greenery passed by slowly as the carriage moved down one hill before climbing another.

The roads winding through the western territory were always like this, stretching endlessly through forests and mountains.

"By the way, Crypian..." Ciel suddenly spoke from the opposite seat, "You seem to be in quite a hurry lately."

She looked at him with a soft loving gaze while maintaining a gentle smile. However, there was almost no emotion hidden behind it.

She was merely continuing her act carefully.

After all, if she wanted Uriel’s attention in the future... if she truly wanted the perfect child blessed with his legendary bloodline... then she needed to do everything properly.

Crypian chuckled lightly after hearing her. "I suppose I have been busy." he paused, inspecting his nails and slowly continued....

"You already know that I am supporting the First Prince."

Ciel nodded lightly before continuing in a soft voice. "But honestly, there is no one in the empire capable of competing against him, so you should relax a little while you still can."

Crypian looked at her quietly for a moment.

The evening light passing through the carriage window illuminated his white hair softly while the moving wind caused several strands to flutter slightly.

’Such a kind and pure girl...’ The thought naturally appeared inside his mind. At moments like this, he genuinely felt fortunate.

Fortunate that the woman engaged to him was someone caring and understanding.

Compared to his previous life, this life almost felt unfairly perfect.

Back then, he had remained alone until the very end.

And originally...The one who was supposed to become engaged to Ciel Scarlet had been his brother.

Yet now everything had changed. Through his knowledge of the future, he had slowly taken away countless opportunities that once belonged to others.

What his brother originally possessed in the previous timeline...he now possessed himself.

Crypian slowly smiled faintly while pushing those thoughts away.

"The First Prince’s succession is practically guaranteed already," he said calmly. "However... there is still one major problem."

"What problem?" Ciel asked curiously while leaning slightly against the side of the carriage.

Crypian’s expression became more serious. "The Holy Empire is different from other nations."

"The nobles may support the First Prince...but the majority of the empire’s citizens worship the Goddess fanatically."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"And if Princess Cecilia ever decides to involve herself in the succession struggle with the Saint standing behind her...then things could become troublesome."

Ciel listened absentmindedly while lightly pressing something hidden in her palm.

The object looked like a tiny musical instrument no larger than her fingernail. Its shape resembled a miniature harmonium carved from silver metal.

Ever since entering the carriage, her fingers had quietly continued pressing against it from time to time.

"I just hope the princess has no interest in the throne," Crypian muttered while turning his gaze toward the passing scenery outside.

For a brief moment, his eyes darkened slightly.

"But even if she does..." His voice became quieter. "It is not like we do not have other methods."

Ciel immediately looked toward him with interest. "What method?"

Her tone sounded innocent and curious, almost like a child trying to hear secrets from adults.

But Crypian only smiled mysteriously. "I will tell you another day."

As he said that, he slowly leaned closer, intending to kiss her forehead affectionately.

Yet before he could touch her...Ciel suddenly leaned backward naturally while stretching slightly.

"Mnn...I think I am getting sleepy."

Her movement looked casual enough to avoid suspicion completely.

Crypian paused briefly before laughing softly to himself, unaware that she had avoided him on purpose.
