Chapter 461 Is it Still a War if I’m the Only One Running?

Several minutes passed before she finally let out a long breath.

Then she entered her private chamber aboard the flying boat and sat before a jade table.

Taking out a special communication paper used only for important clan matters, she began writing carefully with elegant strokes.

"Lin Feng refused to release Ming Ye and Old Xi." Her brush paused briefly. A trace of hesitation appeared in her eyes before she continued writing.

"He is an extremely dangerous individual whose methods and temperament are completely unfathomable. Even I cannot accurately judge the depth of his strength. Furthermore, the beast by his side possesses an aura so terrifying that merely sensing it nearly injured my soul."

Ming Hua’s expression grew serious.

"I strongly advise the clan against acting rashly. If we provoke him carelessly, the consequences may be severe enough for the clan to regret for countless years."

— Signed, Ming Hua.

After finishing the message, Ming Hua infused a thread of spiritual energy into the paper before releasing it gently from her fingers.

Whoosh.

The paper immediately dissolved into countless particles of light and vanished into the void, traveling through the clan’s secret communication art.

The room fell silent afterward. Ming Hua slowly leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. For the first time in many years, she felt genuinely uneasy.

"I only hope the clan makes the right decision..." she whispered softly.

Unfortunately, she understood the nature of ancient clans better than anyone. Pride and arrogance were carved deeply into their bones.

Many elders would never willingly lower their heads to an outsider, especially a young man whose origins were unknown. Ming Hua could only pray they would not allow their pride to blind them.

Outside, the flying boat drifted silently beneath the moonlit sky while the cold night wind howled across the heavens.

Meanwhile, within her chambers, Ming Hua slowly removed her outer robes and lay down to rest.

Yet despite closing her eyes, the image of Lin Feng and that terrifying little chicken continued appearing in her mind over and over again. That night, sleep did not come easily for her at all.

Morning arrived quietly as golden sunlight spread across the skies and illuminated the massive flying boat of the Ming Clan.

Ancient runes flickered faintly along the vessel’s surface while the cold winds above the clouds howled endlessly.

Inside her chambers, Ming Hua slowly opened her eyes after hearing a series of knocks at the door.

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

She sat up silently on her bed, her beautiful brows faintly knitted together. Last night, she had not cultivated at all and had instead chosen to sleep normally.

To ordinary cultivators, such a thing would have been strange. Experts at her level no longer needed sleep to survive.

Meditation and cultivation alone were enough to maintain both body and soul for years. Yet Ming Hua still chose to rest through sleep.

The events from last night had shaken her far more deeply than she wanted to admit. Merely meeting Lin Feng had placed an invisible pressure on her mind.

And then there was that terrifying little chicken beside him. Even now, recalling that beast made her soul feel cold.

Sleeping had been her way of calming herself and recovering from the mental exhaustion brought by everything she had experienced.

"Master..."

The familiar old voice called from outside the chamber. The moment Ming Hua heard her servant’s tone, her heart sank slightly.

She knew immediately that whatever news awaited her outside was definitely not good.

Ming Hua rose gracefully from her bed before putting on her outer robes. Moments later, she opened the door and stepped outside the chamber.

Her old servant stood there respectfully, but there was a trace of tension visible on his aged face. And beside him stood another figure.

The instant Ming Hua saw the old man, her calm expression changed slightly.

"Daoist Soul Reaper... you’re here." Her voice carried both surprise and faint unease.

If this old monster had personally arrived, then there was only one explanation for the clan’s next course of action.

War.

Daoist Soul Reaper was one of the Ming Clan’s oldest and most battle-hungry experts. Normally, he remained deep within the clan’s forbidden lands and rarely involved himself in outside matters.

The fact that he had personally come here meant the higher-ups were already leaning toward forceful action.

"I am." Daoist Soul Reaper calmly clasped his hands behind his back.

"I read your report." His sharp eyes landed on Ming Hua.

"And I think you are exaggerating things." His tone remained calm, but there was obvious confidence hidden within his words.

"Ming Ye and Old Xi may be strong, but they are not invincible figures whose defeat should shake our clan this much." The old man slowly raised his head toward the distant skies.

"As for this Lin Feng..." A faint smile appeared on his thin face.

"I shall take over from here." Ming Hua quietly observed him.

Daoist Soul Reaper was a tall and thin old man dressed in dark robes embroidered with ancient silver markings.

Despite his age, his back remained perfectly straight like an unsheathed divine spear piercing the heavens.

His eyes shone brightly with terrifying vitality, revealing the immense power hidden within his body. Merely standing there caused the surrounding spiritual energy to fluctuate slightly.

He looked less like an old man and more like an ancient predator that had survived countless eras. Unfortunately, instead of feeling reassured by his arrival, Ming Hua only felt even more uneasy.

"I hope you will reconsider, Daoist Soul Reaper," she said carefully.

"Master Lin Feng is not someone who can be measured using common sense. He is unfathomable beyond compare." Even now, she could not fully describe the strange feeling Lin Feng gave her.

It was as though the man existed outside the realm of logic itself. Daoist Soul Reaper listened quietly before suddenly chuckling.

"That is good to know then." A dangerous glint flashed within his eyes.

"Otherwise, this trip would have been a waste of my time."

Boom!
