Hymn said, clapping his hands together. He gestured toward Uva.

the Eldest hissed from inside Uva.

Hymn concurred, the Legend’s voice alight with pride, his heterochromatic eyes burning like twin stars in a distant, dark sky. Hymn pointed at Shiv,

Shiv's eyes widened at that. He folded his arms and glared at Hymn.

The Headmaster yawned, embodying how much he didn’t care about everything that was happening.

Shiv said dryly.

Adam snapped.

Hymn said cryptically. Everyone stared at the Headmaster.

Shiv began,

The Headmaster almost looked disappointed.

Shiv shared a look with Adam, and the Gate Lord shrugged. He didn't seem to have a clue either.

Shiv muttered to himself. He paused. Time wasn't just a concept. It wasn't just something happening to him. It was a type of magic. It was a lore he had control over. Shiv had Chronomancy.

The Deathless suddenly straightened.

Hymn nodded.

And it was Uva who got it first.

Shiv asked.

Hymn said,

Shiv immediately knew who. He felt it in his bones. he sighed.

Hymn grinned.

Shiv sneered.

The Headmaster's grin was positively vicious now, and his eyes blazed with an avaricious gleam.

And suddenly the depths of Hymn’s genius revealed themselves. Adam breathed.

Hymn said.

It was remarkable how fast the Headmaster could go from a slob and an annoyance to someone Shiv genuinely appreciated in so short a time.

Adam sighed.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed, a feral delight ignited inside Shiv. Maiden owed him a blood debt, and he would come to collect from her at one point or another. he thought to himself.

Adam asked.

Hymn admitted.

Shiv said.

Hymn hesitated and frowned before he opened his mouth again.

Shiv said.

Hymn replied.

Shiv used his considerable willpower to ignore the implications behind the man's words.

Hymn squinted at him.

Shiv tried not to cringe.

Shiv said, holding up both hands in rhetorical surrender.

Shiv nodded casually. He paused as he stared Hymn down.

Shiv scowled at him. The Headmaster was being deliberately obtuse.

Shiv said honestly.

A cutting remark was about to leave Hymn's mind, but then the Headmaster did a double-take.

Shiv said flatly.

Uva squinted at him as he said that.

Shiv stopped himself and stared at Uva.

She stared back. Her body vibrated as the doubt inside of her spilled out.

Shiv sighed.

And now Uva’s mouth fell open.

Hymn commented.

Shiv just glared at him.

Hymn said.

Hymn chuckled dryly. Shiv gave him a single-finger salute. The Headmaster eyed the Deathless.

Adam said.

Shiv was about to say something, but suddenly a dastardly scheme took shape in his head—a scheme of deep revenge. So far, having his enemies deal with each other was becoming a very consistent strategy for him, and he saw no reason to stop now.

Adam asked, slightly worried.

Shiv replied.

Hymn promptly ruined Shiv's surprise by throwing his head back in a laugh.he said.

Shiv sneered at the elf.

Hymn said.

Adam said, eyes wide.

Shiv smacked his lips uncomfortably.

"What?"

Shiv breathed in deep before he got to the next part.

The entire right side of Uva’s body twitched.

There was no avoiding this, and Shiv was a “rip the blade out and deal with the pain kind of guy.”

Uva said nothing. She just stared. Her mind grew unnaturally silent. Adam shook his head at Shiv and facepalmed. After a few seconds of unresponsiveness, Hymn walked over and waved his hand in front of her face.

“I…” Uva swallowed. “I…”

Shiv winced.
